Inclusive education

It was brought to my attention by Guido that he was very upset with John Gormley this morning. The issue at stake was inclusive education at all costs. What's inclusive education, you might ask?

A good decision by Station 20 West Board

http://www.newstalk980.com/incoming/20080410/station-20-supporters-focus...

Normally this blog is all about the stupid things that some people do. Today, I'm going to give kudos to a smart decision that the Station 20 West Board made.

When their provincial funding got pulled, they protested, they organized rallies, they attempted to shame the government into restoring the funding that they lost. So what happened when the government told them that they weren't going to have it restored?

Privacy for child porn offenders?

This is unbelievable. Now while I think that privacy rights of individuals are important, if you are a part of the chain that helps child porn, you have no rights.

... And so the true agenda comes out...

http://www.newstalk980.com/incoming/20080408/gay-community-rallies-again...

I don't see anywhere in this story about how the ralliers called for Lukiwski's resignation. I did take note of one point though:

Pollard is also seeking legislative changes like allowing sexually active gay men to donate blood and organs.

Catering to the minorities...

Ok, this is pertaining to the Brad Wall/Tom Lukiwski issue. I know a lot of people, and NO ONE CARES; yet today the Gay and Lesbian community are going protest at Tom's office. http://www.newstalk980.com/incoming/20080408/regina-gay-and-lesbian-comm...

He's baaaaaaaaaaack

At least for the day.

There's not a lot that's been bugging me lately, hence the lack of posts. I've tried a new type of anger management therapy.

:)

That notwithstanding, there is something that I've been listening to over the last week or so that I think needs to be straightened out. That being the kibosh of funding for the Station 20 West mall project by the Saskatchewan government.

Good on ya Keith

http://forlifeandfamily.blogspot.com/2008/01/motion-to-bring-back-freedo...

The summary? Keith Martin, a Liberal MP, moved to remove the section of the Canadian Human Rights Act which allowed the Human Rights Commissions to prosecute hate speech in all forms, including in publications.

There was an interesting question at Small Dead Animals (http://www.smalldeadanimals.com/archives/007943.html#comments) questioning why no Conservative MP made this motion. The answer to that question is very simple:

Do you have to agree with the government to work within it?

http://www.canada.com/reginaleaderpost/news/story.html?id=1e7e4c69-144b-...

Some would say "no, you don't have to agree with the government". Some would say "Yes, fundamentally you do".

Know what I think? No, you don't have to agree with the government of the day to work for or within it. EXCEPT...

With the announcement of firings of some 70 civil servants, some firm NDP supporters, some with no political affiliation, one might question, "Why these 70?"

CBC does something right... more or less

http://www.nationalpost.com/todays_paper/story.html?id=253890

Slightly more than a month after "Pablogate" started, it finally has ended with the CBC outing the offending reporter and detailing her "punishment".

Now I'm not really a good judge. I don't know the woman at all, nor are there many details about her on the internet. What I DO know is to be moved from the Ottawa political bureau where you were caught going being overzealous to CBC Sports in Toronto where the best you can hope for is to report on injuries and interview athletes, this would seem to be a demotion.
