He's baaaaaaaaaaack

At least for the day.

There's not a lot that's been bugging me lately, hence the lack of posts. I've tried a new type of anger management therapy.

:)

That notwithstanding, there is something that I've been listening to over the last week or so that I think needs to be straightened out. That being the kibosh of funding for the Station 20 West mall project by the Saskatchewan government.

Now in order to understand the situation, let's look at the big picture. A month before the election was called, our esteemed Premier of the time announced funds for a building to house a grocery store, dental clinic and medical clinic. The province was not going to own or run those businesses, but the idea was to bring all these things together in one area to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst the poor.

Fair enough. Except for one point: There already IS a dental clinic in the area - Just off Confederation Drive. 2 of them. There is also medical clinics - 2 of them - on 22nd Street W and 20th Street W. Grocery stores? at least 3 listed as such in the phone book, on Avenue B, Avenue H and 20th Street W, not to mention the big Safeway store on (wait for it) Confederation drive.

To be quite frank, it's not the government's job to pick locations for individual services. It's not the government's job to spend our tax dollars on buildings, the only purpose of which is to rent out to private business, regardless of what type of business it is.

And to all those protesting and complaining about the government pulling their funding, I have 2 questions for you:

1. If you think it's such a good idea, why don't YOU invest some money in the project?

2. When is the government going to offer the same opportunities in La Ronge, Beauval, Spiritwood, Glaslyn, Goodsoil, Biggar, Unity......?
